In 2018, Botox and Dysport continue to be the most popular and effective wrinkle fighting agents that we use in our San Diego office. Both treatments are quite effective in reducing unwanted wrinkles and lines – and can be considered fairly equivalent when it comes to delivering cosmetic results.
But Botox and Dysport are fairly different in terms of how potent each ‘unit’ is in controlling muscle movement. One (1) unit of Botox is about equivalent to three (3) units of Dysport. This means that Dr. Hilinski will need to use three times as much Dysport to get the same effect in wrinkle reduction as he would get with Botox. So, for example, if you normally get 25 units of Botox to treat your forehead wrinkles and creases, you would need 75 units of Dysport to get the same cosmetic effect.
The good news is that Dysport is also priced accordingly – so it is 1/3 of the price of Botox in our San Diego office. That means, from a price perspective, Botox and Dysport come out to be the same cost for you. Now it is just a matter of choosing which wrinkle reduction treatment you prefer better – Botox or Dysport!
