What makes Dr. Hilinski so qualified as a medical malpractice expert witness? It comes down to Dr. Hilinski’s education, training and experience as a dedicated facial plastic surgeon.

Dr. Hilinski graduated from Harvard Medical School – widely considered by many to be the #1 medical school in the world. He went on to complete an internship in general surgery, a residency in head and neck surgery, then a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. This advanced surgical training was completed at some of the best academic teaching hospitals in the country. Such training allowed Dr. Hilinski to become double board certified. He is board certified in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery as well as Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Since going into practice, he has developed a hugely successful private practice in San Diego, CA, which attracts patients from literally all over the world. Given his particular expertise in rhinoplasty surgery, Dr. Hilinski was invited to be a member of The Rhinoplasty Society – a prestigious group of practicing plastic surgeons who have demonstrated true expertise in cosmetic and reconstructive nose surgery.

Dr. Hilinski established his private practice over twenty years ago. As the practice evolved, he created his own medical spa where he directs and mentors aesthetic registered nurses in a wide range of cosmetic procedures. In addition to these clinical responsibilities, Dr. Hilinski is the medical director of his own accredited ambulatory surgery center. As a result of running the center, Dr. Hilinski started a software company, Surglogs, to help optimize regulatory processes within the industry. Since then, his software has been adopted by over 900 surgery centers nationwide.

Medical Malpractice

Dr. Hilinski began doing medical malpractice work many years ago and continues to enjoy the interface of both fields. Over the years he has developed a growing reputation in the legal community. This has led to both defense and plaintiff lawyers retaining Dr. Hilinski as a medical malpractice expert witness, which includes depositions and trial work. Although most of these medical malpractice cases have been based in California, Dr. Hilinski has also been called upon as an expert in cases in other states.

Medical Board of California

Beyond his experience as a medical malpractice expert witness, Dr. Hilinski has also been a designated reviewer for the Medical Board of California dating back to 2010. In this role Dr. Hilinski helps the Medical Board of California as an expert consultant hired to review cases involving facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. To date, Dr. Hilinski has been asked to render his opinion on the standard of care in over 30 cases involving other physicians and surgeons. In addition, Dr. Hilinski has been engaged by the board to review several other cases involving practices within the medical spa industry and ambulatory surgery center industry.

Product Liability

Dr. Hilinski has also been hired as an expert to opine in cases involving possible product liability. This includes a multi-state case involving a national equipment supplier for plastic surgeons.
